EU, EEA and Swiss citizens who will reside in Spain for more than three months must personally request their registration certificate.

National Police guidance requires the EU citizen to apply personally for the registration certificate within three months of entry into Spain when the intended stay will exceed that period.
The documents vary depending on the profile: employee, self-employed worker, person with resources and insurance, or enrolled student with health coverage and sufficient means.
Requirements
- Be a citizen of the European Union, the EEA or Switzerland and plan to reside in Spain for more than three months.
- Apply for the certificate in person.
- Show employment, self-employment, resources and health insurance, or student enrolment with sufficient means.
Common documents
- EX-18 form, valid identity card or passport, and proof of payment of fee 790 code 012.
- Employment contract, Social Security registration, tax registration or activity documents if working in Spain.
- Proof of sufficient resources and health insurance, or enrolment and insurance if the applicant is a student.
